I have no clue how to change the darkness on my laptop to brightness. Will someone please help?

I did a system restore and lost all of my drivers. I have gone to the HP/compaq website and downloaded the driver for this laptop several times, once installing it says it fails. Does anyone know another way to get this driver? Thanks!

the charging light is always blinking, and always orange, never turn green, what does this mean? is the battery on compaq laptop bad? the adapter came with the Compaq laptop orginally, but i can use on HP laptop too. these two laptops are almost the same.
